Every face I sculpt is a new experience for me. I try to learn and adjust my methods. If you want to sculpt realistic face in clay, there are endless tutorials. If you want to sculpt in polymer clay, you don't have a problem. But when I searched face sculpting in paper mache, I didn't find a serious tutorial. (It was few years ago, and hopefully things have improved). So I started combining techniques: some clay, some polymer clay, some just trial and error methods.
I like to work relatively small. Most of my sculptures are 20 cm high. But I found that I need to go bigger if I want to learn more about sculpting face features. So this face is much bigger.
